Maryland AG: No Bar to Recognizing Out-of-State Marriages
Thursday, February 25th, 2010Maryland’s attorney general, Douglas F. Gansler, issued a formal opinion on February 23 concluding that there was no impediment under Maryland law to the state recognizing same-sex marriages contracted lawfully in other jurisdictions. In an opinion that ran to some 50 pages, he predicted that the Maryland courts would likely conclude that such marriages should be recognized.
